Found out I have 11 days more vacation left in 2016; 5 of those are committed to the Austin F1 race. I really want to have a proper “driving holiday” somewhere, but where? Suggestions?

I really want to drive Beartooth Highway in Wyoming/Montana, but I can’t take days off without giving my company at least a little bit of warning and I’m not sure when it gets too cold up there.

Coming from Chicago, BTW.

Go to the Appalachians. The roads are incredible and you should be good to until November.

You got me looking at maps around the TotD, and it all looks amazing. Not to mention the food...

I haven’t been to TotD, but NC-215 and SC/NC-276 through Pisgah National Forest is incredible. I’ve been there twice in two months.

My guess is the less-known (and not major highway) roads are better. Thanks!

Also, Asheville is a neat place. The Biltmore is supposed to be pretty neat, and there is a Land Rover driving experience. Also, if you happen to come October 22nd, there is apparently a pretty sweet Euro car show in Greenville, SC.

Sub F1 with the much MUCH better Lone Star LeMans.

Just as scenic, nearly as curvy, less traffic.

I did the Pacific Coast Highway and as a European........lets just say I nearly crashed about 50 times because I was so distracted by the beauty of it all, left, right, up, down....everywhere.....

I think I’m combining the USGP and then just driving over to Nashville, eating at Husk, then driving to Asheville / general area.

I’ve been meaning to go to Lone Start Le Mans, maybe next year.

Drive the Blue Ridge Parkway in the fall, just don't kill yourself on the leaves.

Let me know when, and maybe we could have a meet up. There are a few of us within a couple of hours from there.

From Chicago you could do the Lake Michigan circle tour, or the Lake Superior circle tour would be another option. I’m not sure of the driving roads around either lake, but I’m sure there are some good stretches to be found.
